Beginner Series: 3-Class Pack
New to mahjong? This is the perfect place to start. Our three-class beginner series is designed to take you from the very basics to confidently playing a full game—all in a fun, social, and supportive environment.
The series includes:
• Intro - Class I – Learn the tiles, setup, and core game play
• Next Steps - Class II– Learn the Charleston and get introduced to the NMJL card
• The Final Round - Class III – Put it all together with the full NMJL card and guided playClasses are typically $41.50 each, but when you commit to the full series, you’ll receive a discount—bringing the total to $115.

Mahj and Movement
Join Studio 45 and The Women’s Collective for a morning of movement, food, and Mahj!
We’ll start with a 30-minute mat class led by Studio 45, then settle in for brunch bites, beverages, and Mahjong open play at The Women’s Collective.
Open play is welcome to all levels, and this won’t be your typical open play! We’ll have a few fun twists and turns along the way, plus giveaways throughout the event.
Your $60 ticket includes the mat class, brunch bites, beverages, open play, and all the fun extras. Come ready to move, eat, and play!
*Doors open at 9:45 AM . Mat class starts promptly at 10:00 AM. We will have mats available for use, but feel free to bring your own.
Blanchet Senior Moms’ Night

Next Steps - Class II

Ready to take the next step in your Mahjong journey? In this class we’ll introduce the Charleston and give you a first look at the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card.
You’ll learn how tile passing works during the Charleston and begin getting familiar with the card. To keep things simple and fun, The Women’s Collective will choose a few hands from the card for everyone to play, so you can practice without feeling overwhelmed.
Perfect for players who already know the basics and are ready to add the next layer of American Mahjong.

Final Round - Class III
MAHJONG -THE FINAL ROUND - The grand finale in our beginner series—where it all comes together. This is the class where the magic happens. We''ll tackle the NMJL card (yes, that card) and break it down in a way that actually makes sense - so you can read it with confidence, pick a hand, and start playing with intention. With plenty of guided play and table time, you’ll bring it all together—Charleston, strategy flow and all the moving pieces that make mahjong so addictive. By the end of class, you’ll be ready to sit down and play a full game of American Mahjong from start to finish.
Light refreshments and snacks will be available.

Strategy - Basic Defense & Pivoting
This class is designed for players who have completed our Beginner Series or already feel comfortable playing American Mahjong. We’ll start with guided instruction covering the basics of playing defense, along with how to pivot when the hand you planned just isn’t coming together.
Then we’ll move into open play at your table, where you can practice these new strategies with instructors nearby to answer questions, offer tips and help you think through your next move.
Perfect for players ready to play smarter, make more confident decisions and add a few new tricks to their Mahjong game.

Intro to Mahjong - Class I
Join us for a fun and beginner-friendly introduction to American Mahjong! In this session, you’ll learn the basics of the tiles, how to set up and deal the game, and how to draw, discard, and call tiles during play. We’ll also introduce how jokers work.
To keep things simple for new players, this class will focus on the flow of the game and will not include the Charleston or the National Mahjong League card.
No experience needed—just come ready to learn and have fun!

Mahjopause - Let’s Talk Hormones!
Hot flashes. Brain fog. Mood swings. Sleep that suddenly has a mind of its own. Let’s talk about what our hormones are actually up to.
Join us for the first evening of Mahjopause, The Women’s Collective’s new series bringing together expert conversation, a little humor, and Mahjong.
Dr. Becky Kulgren will kick off the evening with an approachable conversation all about hormones during perimenopause and menopause, with time for questions and real talk.
Then we’ll break out the tiles for Mahjong Open Play! Come ready to play, connect, laugh, and enjoy the evening with other women who get it.
